Build the Operations Platform Federal Contractors Actually Deserve.
We are a small, deliberately federal-fluent team building KTRNET — a multi-tenant operations platform for federal contractors. We are hiring our first ten employees beyond the cofounders. Remote-first. Audit-grade. Heavy ownership. Real equity. No ceremony.
Federal-Fluent, Audit-Grade, Allergic to Ceremony.
The platform we are building reduces toil for our customers. We hold ourselves to the same standard.
Customer-Side Empathy
Every shipped feature has a name attached. We sit on customer calls, watch the workflow, and write the code we wish someone had written for us.
Audit-Grade by Default
If it cannot be evidenced, it did not happen. Tests, audit logs, and runbooks are not afterthoughts. They are the artifact.
Boring Infrastructure
We ship modern UX on top of stable, observable, recoverable infrastructure. AWS, Terraform, KMS, MySQL. Predictable beats novel.
One Mode: Build
Few meetings. Long uninterrupted hours. Async writing. Working sessions when we need them. The output is the artifact.
Competitive Cash, Real Equity, and the Stuff That Matters.
Salary bands published next to each role. Early-stage equity ranges that reflect the risk you are taking on us.
The First 10 Hires Beyond the Cofounders.
Listed roughly in hire order. Each posting includes salary band, equity range, and what the first 90 days look like. Apply by emailing careers@ktrnet.com.
01 Founding Senior Full-Stack Engineer Remote (US) · Full-time Engineering
Own end-to-end features across the CodeIgniter 4 platform — from RBAC to DCAA timecards to the COR portal. You will pair directly with the founders on architecture and ship to production weekly.
What you will own
- Own modules end-to-end: schema, controllers, views, tests, observability.
- Extend the multi-tenant data layer and audit-log discipline.
- Build with us toward FedRAMP Moderate and SOC 2 Type II readiness.
What we are looking for
- Senior or staff-level full-stack experience shipping production SaaS.
- Strong PHP (CI4 / Laravel / Symfony) or Python or Ruby fluency; will to write boring, audit-friendly code.
- Comfort with MySQL, IAM, and writing tests that survive an auditor.
BonusFederal contracting, DCAA, or GovCloud exposure.
02 Founding Platform / DevOps Engineer Remote (US) · Full-time Engineering
Stand up the AWS GovCloud tenancy that gets us to FedRAMP Moderate. Own Terraform, ECS Fargate, KMS posture, and the path to IL4+.
What you will own
- Own the Terraform that provisions VPC, ECS, RDS, KMS, and Secrets Manager across commercial and GovCloud.
- Drive the encryption posture in ENCRYPTION-COMPLIANCE.md to "all green" — including KMS-backed FieldCipher and ALB→ECS mTLS.
- Own incident response, runbooks, and the postmortem cadence.
What we are looking for
- Production AWS experience, Terraform, container orchestration.
- Has shipped against an auditor (SOC 2, FedRAMP, ISO, or PCI).
- Bias toward boring, observable, recoverable infrastructure.
BonusGovCloud, FIPS endpoints, FedRAMP 3PAO experience.
03 Founding Security & Compliance Engineer Remote (US) · occasional DC area travel · Full-time Security
Drive KTRNET from compliance-aware to compliance-evidenced. Own the FedRAMP package, SSP, POA&M, and the day-to-day controls that keep federal customers comfortable.
What you will own
- Own the SSP, POA&M, and continuous monitoring posture against NIST 800-53 Rev. 5 and 800-171.
- Run our SOC 2 Type II audit and prep us for the FedRAMP 3PAO assessment.
- Pair with engineering on threat modeling, secure code review, and the JIT / break-glass workflows.
What we are looking for
- Track record carrying a FedRAMP Moderate or High package across the line.
- Working knowledge of NIST 800-53, 800-171, CMMC 2.0, and FIPS 140-3 controls.
- Comfort writing both control narratives and (some) code.
BonusActive or eligible for a security clearance.
04 Founding Account Executive · Federal Remote (US) · DC / Hampton Roads / San Antonio preferred · Full-time Go-To-Market
Sell into prime contractors and the operations / PMO leadership inside them. You will own pipeline from first call through paper, partnered tightly with the founders.
What you will own
- Own pipeline, demos, and close for our first 10–25 federal contractor accounts.
- Drive ARR from $0 to a meaningful seven-figure milestone in your first 12 months.
- Feed product weekly with the friction the demos surfaced.
What we are looking for
- Five-plus years selling B2B SaaS or services into federal contractors.
- You can read a SAM.gov listing and a CLIN schedule without flinching.
- You sell consultatively — not by demoing every checkbox.
BonusExisting relationships in DoD prime / sub ecosystems.
05 Founding Customer Success / Implementation Lead Remote (US) · light travel · Full-time Go-To-Market
Own the 14-day "kickoff to first audit-ready report" promise. You are the human side of the platform during implementation, training, and the first floor check.
What you will own
- Run kickoffs, seed tenants with customer contract structure, and train role groups.
- Build the playbook for onboarding, hypercare, and account expansion.
- Be the voice of the customer in product reviews and roadmap calls.
What we are looking for
- CS or implementation experience in a vertical SaaS or federal-adjacent product.
- Operational fluency: CLINs, LCATs, COR signoff flows, DCAA basics.
- You write clean docs and unblock customers without escalating.
BonusBackground as a federal contractor PM, COR, or contracts officer.
06 Founding Product Designer Remote (US) · Full-time Product
Own how the platform looks, feels, and reduces cognitive load — across an executive console, a contractor self-service workspace, and a read-only government COR portal.
What you will own
- Own design systems, persona-aware navigation, and the mockup-grade dashboards customers see in demos.
- Pair with engineering daily — designs ship as code, not Figma exports.
- Drive accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) into every new module.
What we are looking for
- Five-plus years designing dense, data-heavy SaaS — operations consoles, finance, ITSM, security tools.
- Comfort prototyping in HTML/CSS or with a strong design-engineering loop.
- You care about defaults, density, and dark-mode discipline.
BonusFederal or government UX experience (USDS, 18F, federal contractor-side).
07 Senior Backend Engineer · Federal Intel Remote (US) · Full-time Engineering
Own the Federal Intel module — FPDS, SAM.gov, USAspending, CPARS, and GovTribe ingest, normalization, and signal layer. The first hire dedicated to making federal data make sense.
What you will own
- Own the ingestion pipeline and schema for federal opportunity, award, and recompete signals.
- Build the BD-pipeline scoring layer customers consume in the Intel Radar.
- Own data quality — auditors and BD leads notice when it slips.
What we are looking for
- Strong backend / data engineering chops; ETL pipelines you would be proud to put on a resume.
- PHP, Python, or Go fluency; comfort with MySQL or Postgres at scale.
- Track record shipping data products that other humans actually trust.
BonusFamiliarity with federal data sources (FPDS, SAM.gov, GovTribe, HigherGov).
08 Federal Contracts SME · Advisor-to-Hire Remote (US) · DC area preferred · Fractional → Full-time Federal Practice
Act as our in-house federal acquisitions brain. CLINs, FAR/DFARS, COR signoff flows, DCAA expectations, WAWF / iRAPT / PIEE quirks. You make sure the platform is right, not just plausible.
What you will own
- Review every new module for FAR/DFARS and DCAA alignment.
- Sit in customer calls when contractual nuance is a deciding factor.
- Author the federal-contracts portion of marketing, sell sheet, and battle card content.
What we are looking for
- Twenty-plus years on the federal contractor or government side: COR, KO, contracts manager, or PCO.
- Hands-on familiarity with WAWF, iRAPT, PIEE, FPDS, SAM.gov, and CPARS.
- Ability to translate compliance into product requirements.
BonusActive or recent federal cleared work.
09 Senior QA / Test Engineer Remote (US) · Full-time Engineering
Own the test pyramid. The kind of QA who treats audit-grade test coverage as a product feature — because for our customers, it is.
What you will own
- Own the unit, integration, and end-to-end suites in PHPUnit and the smoke commands.
- Build property-based tests for the multi-tenant scoping invariants.
- Drive release-gate quality — customers should never see a regression in compliance-affecting code.
What we are looking for
- Five-plus years QA / test engineering experience in regulated SaaS.
- Strong PHP, Python, or TypeScript; you write code, not just BDD specs.
- You enjoy adversarial thinking — what would the auditor or attacker exploit?
BonusExperience with FedRAMP control evidence collection.
10 Founding Marketing / Content Lead Remote (US) · Full-time Go-To-Market
Own the voice of KTRNET. Sell sheets, battle cards, sequences, the press kit, the website, and the SEO surface — paired tight with sales and product.
What you will own
- Own positioning, messaging, and the marketing site (the one you are reading).
- Run the email sequences, content cadence, and partner co-marketing.
- Build the analyst and press relationships from first contact through coverage.
What we are looking for
- B2B SaaS marketing experience with a writing portfolio you are proud of.
- Comfort selling to operations and contracts buyers, not just engineers.
- Bias to action — you would rather ship a one-pager than approve a deck.
BonusFederal contracting, gov-tech, or B2B vertical SaaS background.
